Dr. Michael Gadson takes the opportunity to share his experiences and concerns for the profession to which he had devoted his life. He sees the field of psychiatry as a "calling" that incorporates the sacred, humane and spiritual aspects of our being. He notes that there are many physicians, but that being a "healer" demands more from it's practitioners.
He grew up in the projects of Bridgeport, Connecticut as one of ten children. His oldest sister reminded him that he said that he was going to "become a doctor" when he was 5 years old.
His pursuit of medicine began in earnest when he chose to attend and then graduate from Williams College. He went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut Medical School. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry at the Hartford Institute of Living. He subsequently completed his fellowship in child psychiatry at Georgetown University.
He started the "Gadson Clinic" in Quincy,Illinois in 1994.
