When wildlife biologist Natalie Hughes finds her friend and mentor murdered in a bed and breakfast owned by the older woman, the search for the killer draws Natalie into a struggle over land rights that will shape the fate of a wildlife sanctuary and the future of the local Native American tribe. About Jacen Greene
While searching through the effects of my late mother, Sharon Greene, I discovered a completed manuscript, Medicine Bird, of which she had frequently spoken but never published. Following an extensive rewrite, the novel will now be published under Sharon’s name with all profits donated to her favorite nonprofit organization, Friends of the Van Duzen River.
Sharon lived in Humboldt County, California, which served as the inspiration for the landscapes, characters and events of Medicine Bird. She was an avid birdwatcher and painter who devoted her spare time to volunteering with local environmental organizations and teaching Tai Qi. After a long battle with cancer, Sharon passed away in December of 2003.
