When Robin Swindle’s nephew, Charlie, dies at a private school tucked away in a remote valley in Ramona, California, she... More > is shanghaied by her sister in Bakersfield, to collect his belongings.
Robin’s visit to The Fount School turns into a very peculiar experience, as the behavior of the people there is rather strange. She senses heavy paranoia in the atmosphere. Returning home one evening, Robin is attacked outside her home and wakes up locked in a shed. She smells smoke, and realizes there is a wildfire starting. It is Santa Ana season, when California’s dry hills can explode into flame in a flash. Much of this story is based on actual events I’ve experienced from being a critic of Scientology. Other incidents in the plot happened to friends who are also Scientology critics or ex-members. < Less |
