Welcome to Ghost in the Machine - the 2004 Australasian Computer Music Association Conference.
In a field so defined by... More > technology as ours, it is easy to become bogged down in the technicalities of the art and its tools, and to assume that we as artists and composers have the ultimate control or ownership over the sounds that we are producing. It is with this in mind that we have chosen to celebrate the Ghost in the Machine, that intangible something that is beyond our control, that gives life to sounds, enables them to transcend the purely physical and psychoacoustic, and become capable of communication beyond our immediate realities. Here our sounds take on a life and purpose of their own as they transport our experience beyond the mundane. < Less |

The Australasian Computer Music Association was founded in 1989. The organisation provides a forum for new compositions, information sharing, and research about music technology and computer music, principally throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Australasian Computer Music Association is a community of composers, performers, teachers and technologists who have an interest in, and are making or supporting music making with computers. The main activity of ACMA is an annual conference, usually held in a capital city of Australia or New Zealand, which is a forum for the members' activites, music and research. In addition there are sometimes locally organised events such as concerts and seminars.
