Over ten years of ophthalmic nursing and teaching the ophthalmic component within university based modules, Annette Barker (nee Ryman) has become a strong advocate for patients (and their significant others) who have a visual impairment, particularly Age Related Macular Degeneration. Currently establishing a consultancy, based in Detroit, Michigan, USA, specifically geared towards teaching, training and coaching, in both educational (for staff) and clinical settings (for patients and carers). Annette's aim is to work alongside all interested parties to ensure that the needs of this vulnerable group are considered and met.
