Buckingham English began life as a hobby for the founder and principal Christopher Buckingham.
The story really begins in 2001 in Paris, France where Christopher was teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Although he was surrounded by some excellent resources and materials he couldn’t help thinking that something was missing from the market.
As his career as a teacher progressed he began to teach Business English which is where his passion for ELT and "business" was ignited.
By teaching in as many sectors as he could his learning and knowledge of each became more focused. He began to search for ever more appropriate materials for his students, but the market began to let him down.
The available ELT resources were extremely safe, often out of context and very formulated to the point that teaching with these same resources again and again became a repetitive and boring activity. So Christopher started writing his own more up to date resources.
And so, Buckingham English was born.
