Once she destroys the evil creature, her father reveals to Mallory this was a test of her true nature. She is a Demon Slayer, born into the highest order of Slayers and charged with protecting the Code of the Protectorate and eliminate any demon that strays from their assigned path. Mallory and her friends find themselves in the middle of a struggle as Vampires, Werewolves, and other demons seek dominance over humankind. Mallory serves to protect the Order and avoid violating her own Code of the Slayers as she enters High School with all the social pressures a normal teenage girl endures. < Less

Her captors—the scientists who trained her to kill, heal, and operate every piece of military hardware available—are ordered to terminate Beth and her friends. Beth escapes and finds a community of people who understand her. Through them she finds friendship and acceptance.
