Thank you for your interest in Cool Boys Read, Inc. Our Summer Enrichment Program aims to provide fun incentives for African American and Latino boys to retain and enhance their academic abilities to prevent summer learning loss and achievement gaps.
In 2012, we had members in New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Connecticut, and we presented at the Harlem Book Fair for the second time.
The Cool Boys Read® program was created in 2007 by Susan Herriott and her son Khari. Our first book was published in 2008.
The next year, member Vernon Johnson's work was published in the "Harvard Educational Review" special issue on the election of Barack Obama (www.hepg.org/her/abstract/694). In 2010, the founding group made a short film that was written by two members.
The proceeds from the online sale of our books are used to fund future activities of the Cool Boys Read® program.
