"The Church of God" is a must read for anyone who wants to know the privileges and responsibilities of church membership... More > from a biblical perspective. Scripturally sound, Fortner's treatment is extremely comprehensive, fully detailed, and given with absolute conviction. In a forthright and incisive manner Don Fortner sets out the importance and the essential elements of public worship. He examines the qualities required in the pastor, elders and deacons, the nature of their work and the way in which the church should support them in that work. He then proceeds to show from Scripture why every true Christian should be a member of a local church and what this involves. Special consideration is given to the place of baptism and the Lord's Supper in the life and worship of the church and to the financial support of the work of the gospel, both at home and abroad. This book challenges all Christians to greater commitment to the local body of believers to which they belong. < Less

Discovering Christ In Revelation
By Donald S. Fortner
Paperback:

$16.17

The entire Bible, both the Old Testament and the New, is a book about the person, work and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.... More > All the promises and blessings of God given to sinful men and women are in Christ. All the revelation and knowledge of the triune God are in Christ. Christ is not only the central message of Holy Scripture, he is the message of Holy Scripture. To understand that is to have the key that opens the Word of God and reveals its treasures.
Don Fortner shows how that which is true of the whole of Scripture is especially and gloriously true of the last, closing chapters of the volume, the book of Revelation. This last book of the Bible is Christ’s revelation of himself to his servants. It is ‘the Revelation of Jesus Christ’. The author ably disproves the view that the book of Revelation is too deep and dark for us to understand. God has emphatically promised in the introduction to this book a blessing to the sincere reader and hearer of it, and to the sincere keeper of its words. < Less |

The Doctrines of Grace

My own private opinion is that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and him crucified, unless you preach what... More > now-a-days is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. I do not believe we can preach the gospel, if we do not preach justification by faith, without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in his dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering, love of Jehovah: nor do I think we can preach the gospel, unless we base it upon the peculiar redemption which Christ made for his elect and chosen people; nor can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called, and suffers the children of God to be burned in the fires of damnation after having believed. Such a gospel I abhor. The gospel of the Bible is not such a gospel. We preach Christ crucified in a different fashion, and to all gainsayers we reply. "We have not so learned Christ."
