Henry Gould lives in Minneapolis, MN. He has been writing poetry since the 1960s, in many forms, with an emphasis on long poems and sequences. In the early 1970s, while attending Brown University, he was the recipient of the Rose Low Rome Poetry Prize, the Charles Philbrick Memorial Prize for Poetry, and an Academy of American Poets award. In the 1990s, he co-founded and directed the Poetry Mission, a local nonprofit profit arts association based in Providence. He co-edited the little magazine Nedge, and co-edited and published an anthology in honor of poet Edwin Honig (A Glass of Green Tea); he also edited and published a volume of Honig's collected poems (Time & Again : Poems 1940-1997). His poems, essays and reviews have appeared in Mudlark, Poetry, DiVersos, Jacket, Critical Flame, Rain Taxi, Blackbox Manifold, West Branch, Notre Dame Review, and various other journals. His books of poetry include Stone (Copper Beech, 1979); Stubborn Grew (Spuyten Duyvil, 2000); Ravenna Diagram I-III (Dos Madres, 2018-2020); and Continental Shelf : shorter poems 1968-2020 (Dos Madres, 2022).
