Lakeya Geneene Mitchell developed a passion for writing after her 7th grade homeroom teacher told her aunt, "Lakeya should be publishing children's stories", at a parent/teacher conference. This caused young Lakeya to realize that writing was truly the gift that God placed in her.

She went on to write her first book, "Joyful Winter" in 2003 and publish it in 2007. Lakeya loves being an author and has no greater passion in life. Lakeya does not write her books for the purpose of inviting negative criticisms from a harsh audience who does not appreciate her work. However, to each his or her own. She does however, hope to entertain HER reading audience and maybe even put a smile on their faces and encourage them along the way. God truly is in the details of her books!
