Dr. Trichy Sankaran is a world-renowned percussionist, and one of the foremost exponents of the Karnatak classical music of South India.

Since 1971, he has been Professor of Indian Music Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada, where he has trained many students in the principles and practice of South Indian rhythm and drumming.
