Maria Arango earned BS and MS degrees in Psychology and Exercise Physiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before taking a variety of fine and graphic art classes. Printmaking changed her life forever and she spent a few years of honing her skills and amassing a body of work, primarily in woodcut prints.
I wrote the book as a guide because a lot of artists have asked me a lot of questions, which leads me to believe that something like this is needed and will hopefully be useful to many artists.
I am first and foremost, an artist, with years of management experience and about twelve years in the business of being an artist as a sole means of support. I have good eyes and ears, a fair dose of common sense and will stand proud behind every word I say.
As in hiking, I recommend experience as the best guide. But hiking is safer and much more fun when you have a sketchy map, a good compass, and the guiding words of one who has been on the trail before. Let the book be your guide.
