Humanity is the sum of the arts and sciences.
But the equation doesn't balance. For how do we explain the synergy that... More > makes the whole greater than the sum of the parts? How do we define a sense of wonder? What is the formula for the meaning of life? Like Einstein's Cosmological Constant, that indefinable spark of mystery that makes the universe something more than merely possible, there is an unqualifying element that breathes life into our ideas and perceptions, lifting us up above the mundane: The RH Factor. < Less |

This screenplay (unproduced so far and perhaps forever) was written in the grayish dawn of the Reagan Era and is a satire,... More > not only of the man and his Dark Age nostalgia, but of the inadequacy of his opponents. And of the times; of the Punk Rock, New Wave, post-Disco, pre-Rap, nascent-MTV 1980s.
And, ultimately, it is a zombie movie to make George Romero’s ears bleed. < Less |

Large In Time

Tell me, neighbor, how do you feel? Well, come inside and let me see what I have for you. It might be something good,... More > something that can only be found along the highways and backroads of an American dreamer’s countryside; it might be an old girlfriend or a bittersweet memory of a summer afternoon; it might be a backyard flowerbed or a distant unknown world; it might be a moment of silence or a snippet of a forgotten song so exquisite that it breaks your heart; it might be the future; it might be the past. It might be painful, but it might be worth it.
Tell me, neighbor, what do you want? Do you long for the days when freedom meant freedom, not obeisance; when non-conformity was a breath of fresh air, not a fist in the face; when the sun shone down sweetly on the honeysuckle vine after the spring rain; when lovers gazed up at the moon and romantics gazed back; when pretty girls drove convertibles with their tops down; when sentences winked at you with ambiguity? If so, then, my friend, you have come home. < Less |

RJDiogenes, a.k.a. Rick Hutchins, is, unfashionably, a heterosexual white male. He is still single, despite the recent landmark court ruling allowing atheists to marry. A lifelong Bohemian, he has nevertheless spent over 25 years in the trenches of the health care industry, working at an inner-city maternity hospital, running an urban Midwifery service and toiling at a non-profit health insurance company. He is very likely the last of the liberals. His favorite author is Arthur C Clarke; his favorite movie is Casablanca; his favorite song is "The 59th Street Bridge Song." If he was a tree, he'd be one of those talking ones on HR Pufnstuf. Despite having been around seemingly forever, he has not grown old; he has merely grown large in time.
