Scairt Amach/Shout Out is the proof book of a photo exhibit of the same name produced over several years in Northern Ireland... More > and completed in 1993. The images depict samples of artwork created by imprisoned Irish Republicans. The text outlines the relationship between politics and art, art and identity, and independence of mind and spirit as a result of this discourse. (The photos and captions are part of the political collection of the Linen Hall Library in Belfast, Northern Ireland.) This book is a record of the project more than a work unto itself. I have published it here as an academic reference. Contact me directly for original prints. < Less

Born and raised in Connecticut, I come from a long line of Nutmeggers who cherish place and time as integral parts of the people who are the heart and soul of home. These works reflect my passion for home as well as my curiosity about the forces that make it, shake it, sometimes threaten to take it all away. My fascination with prison art and with graffiti reflect my interest in and respect for change and the creative potential that resides in change even as it seems to destroy what is.
