Denis Montgomery was born in Natal, South Africa, in 1934, and has lived, worked and travelled in several parts of Africa, in Brazil and the United Kingdom. He traversed Africa from north to south twice and has spent a lifetime studying the geography and anthropology of that continent. He developed a particular interest in evolution and the pre-history, and history, of Africa and the Indian Ocean. He has written several important books on the Seashore Hypothesis and descriptions of his travels.
