An Introduction to Double Bass Playing (w/ color pictures)
"An Introduction to Double Bass Playing" is the culmination of over a decade of playing, teaching, studying, and practicing. It began as a five page packet in 1998 for a summer music camp and subsequently grew exponentially.
This book addresses many aspects of double bass playing. Its purpose is to add to the reader's knowledge and fill possible gaps in double bass study. It is not an exhaustive double bass method nor is it intended to replace actual studies with a teacher. It does have many exercises and examples that teachers have used over the years but were not written down.
It is designed as a resource for students, string teachers and college students who have some previous knowledge of the double bass. It should serve as a springboard for further work and study. *Updated 3/24/08.

Suzuki Soup
Suzuki Soup is a composition I wrote featuring the melodies of Suzuki Book 1. It is a medley in a fiddling type style. I thought that since most string students study these tunes it would be fun to play them with a twist in a group setting.
And since students do play them, the ensemble's intonation should be better as the melodies are already in their ears.
