I am originally from suburban Detroit but am now a proud resident of the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago (just far enough away from the Wicker Park scene to blossom out of the sun suffocating deluge of artists one neighborhood southeast). I chose to come to Chicago not for the great literary scene the city has but instead for its liberal politics. I am a graduate of Michigan State University in 1998 (with a degree in Political Science - Public Administration). I spend most of my free time watching bad movies - to learn what not to do and traveling. My favorite city in the world is Budapest, Hungary, but I enjoy all of Eastern Europe. Most, if not all of my projects, both fiction and non-fiction take place there.

So another NaNoWriMo has passed and I'm working on my second rough draft to post on this site, "Stars, Bars, and The Crown." Hopefully by this January of 2006 it will be edited (for grammar and continuity at least) before I post it and will, therefore, be a second draft as opposed to a rough draft.

And this year the novel will be free to download from the very start.

If you want to download the 2004 novel, "Why Sleep When I'll Only Dream?" this is now also free. But be warned, it's a bumpy ride.

The Birth Of My Baby Book

I received my proof copy in the mail yesterday evening. It's so weird to see my words in bound form. It looks really professional. I'm debating whether or not to proof the book further before I send it to my beta readers.

But, what I'm really debating is what to do with my proof copy. It just feels so good to hold it that I don't want to bend it or anything - it feels like a child!

Nothing Quite Like The Pain Of Something New

There is nothing quite like the joy of trying to work with a new system. For someone who basically uses the Web as a communications tool and nothing else, trying to get my free Lulu.com copy of my NANOWRIMO 2004 winner, "Why Sleep When I'll Only Dream?" has been an adventure.

Still, the site has been nothing but wonderful and I think I'll use it to publish some of my travel narrative work. More details to follow...
