Groups FAQ

KnowledgeBase > The Lulu Community > Groups FAQ

Lulu account holders use Lulu Groups to cooperatively display and sell related content in a single themed Lulu storefront, share a blog, and conduct other collaborative ventures.

How do I join a Lulu group?

  1. Use the Search Groups box on your My Groups page or find a group by looking at the ones with recent activity.
  2. Click the name of the group in the list or search results to go to the group's homepage.
  3. Click the Join Group button under the group's avatar.
  4. If the group requires moderator approval, your request awaits approval. (Lulu notifies you, after you click the button, if this is the case.)
If approval isn't required, you are an instant member.

What privileges do I get when I join a group?

Member privileges include posting to the group blog and submitting content you want displayed on the group's storefront.

In groups created after June 2007, the group's moderators can control privileges, so some groups may require moderator approval before a member may submit content to the group's storefront. When you submit content, our system lists the rules governing your permissions.

How does Lulu know which groups will interest me?

Lulu recommends Groups on the My Groups> page based on your account interests provided through your My Lulu> page, displaying current Groups with matching interests.

To see more recommendations, you may provide more interests in your account, use the Search Groups box to find groups with particular interests, or Request a new group> based on one of your interests.

How do I submit content to a group storefront?

You must be a member of a group to submit content to its storefront.

On the group homepage, enter one or more content IDs you want displayed on the group storefront. Please submit only content relevant to the group.

Group moderators evaluate your submission, displaying it on the storefront upon approval.

Why isn't the content I submitted showing up on the group storefront?

Group moderators must approve all content submissions before they are displayed on the group storefront. If content you submitted is not on the group storefront, check the following.

  • Is your content submission still pending? A group moderator may have not reviewed your submission yet. Click the "View Pending Submissions" link on the group homepage. If your submission appears in the resulting list, it is awaiting review. Please be patient.
  • Was your submission rejected by moderators? If your submission is not in the pending content list, it could have been rejected by a group moderator. Moderators ensure that content on the storefront is relevant or appropriate. Contact one of the group moderators for more information.

How do I create a new Lulu group?

Since this is a new program, Lulu staff must approve all groups.

Click the Request a new group link on the My Groups page to submit a new group request to Lulu. Give your group a name and describe its purpose in detail. When your request is reviewed, we notify you by email.

If we approve your group, you become its moderator.

How can I become a group moderator?

The first moderator is always the person who asked to form the new group. That person then shares moderator privileges with other members of the group.

If you want to be a moderator for an existing group, contact a current moderator and ask for the privilege. Moderators may display their contact information there or on the group storefront, or you can click the moderator's name to go to his or her personal storefront.

Please do not contact Lulu staff; we cannot provide contact information for group moderators and we will not grant moderator privileges.

How do I set up the group storefront?

First, you must be a group moderator to edit the group storefront.

If you are a moderator and are logged in, an Edit Group Storefront link displays on the group homepage. Click it to go to the Storefront Editor.

For more information about setting up your storefront, see the Storefront FAQ>.
