An expansive narrative of love and loss, time and aging, regret and learning how to live, Quality of Quantity engages successful “Boomers” with the question they’ve been asking themselves: Was that all there was to life?
Heath, a wealthy retired executive, finds the answer to that question as he narrates his story of global travel, libertine excess, and self-discovery. Tormented by guilt since his twin sister’s molestation when they were ten, Heath blames himself for not protecting her. After a career of corporate and personal adventurism, he grows to understand the Western obsession with quantity, an ethos that exploits the vulnerability of the poor, the weak, and the young.
Written with plot turns reminiscent of Flynn’s Gone Girl, the raw honesty of Strayed’s Wild, and the unfettered structure of McCarthy’s The Road, the novel seduces the reader with the guilty allure of a traffic accident.

May 20, 2016For many readers, I believe, this book will be a journey of introspection. The author has a gift for description that brings you with him on his world travels. That alone would make this book a "must read", but beyond that is a story of personal pain, self-absorption, excess, regret and ultimately self-knowledge. We look in the mirror and we see this person - perhaps not with his eyes of privilege, or the glamorous life-style, but with the perspective of lessons that only come with living our life the way we thought we were meant to. Such an enjoyable, sometimes cringeworthy, read. Heath's story is painted with the words of a true artist, every line filled with thoughtful significance. I highly recommend you take this journey, you won't regret it.
