Not only is the TWI Report a record on an amazing accomplishment of American industry during WWII, it also illustrates the philosophy, principles, and methods that are absolutely applicable for industry today. Mark Warren also adds incredible insight into the continued post-war achievements of the TWI leaders, which gives key understanding into the very techniques industry needs to be implementing and utilizing today. Jim Huntzinger – The Roots of Lean TWI Summit I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Development of the ‘J’ programs is an adventure story in the manufacturing realm. Each program has its own story amidst the tensions of enthusiasm and resistance. Success prevailed as yet another triumph of the ‘greatest generation’ during the 1940’s decade. Availability of this book amongst operations management practitioners will reap organizational benefits for current and future generations. Dennis Verstegen, Principal Verstegen+Associates LLC The TWI Final Report is valuable... More > because it is a reflection of the TWI Programs themselves. Outwardly they appear simple; but when studied, the reader finds a treasure of universal managerial principles. In order to get the most value out of this Report, one should "read between the lines" to determine the fundamental, timeless concepts the Service intended to convey. Donald A. Dinero – Training Within Industry: The Foundation of Lean Institute Conductor (Master Trainer) (JIT, JRT, JMT, PD) The TWI Learning Partnership The TWI report gives a good historical perspective on some of the foundations of the Toyota Production System. Mark provides numerous footnotes and additional background to help bring forward some of the missing pieces. His research is invaluable for people who want to know more about the origins of these processes and how to apply them successfully.
