The journal Marian Studies is the proceedings of the annual national meeting of the Mariological Society of America (MSA). The MSA is a Catholic theological association dedicated to studying and making known the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the mystery of Christ and the Church and in the history of salvation. Through its annual meeting and the journal Marian Studies, the Society seeks to promote original research in Marian doctrine and devotion. Marian Studies is published by the Mariological Society of America. The articles reflect the expertise, interpretations and opinions of the individual authors and not necessarily of the Marian Library or the University of Dayton. The 67th annual meeting of the Mariological Society of America took place May 17-20, 2016, at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The program theme was “Theological Foundations of Devotion to the Heart of Mary."
