About mdornaus

Margaret Dornaus holds an M.F.A. in the translation of poetry—focusing on the works of Neruda and Lorca—from the University of Arkansas. An award-winning poet and non-fiction writer, her food and travel articles are published in a variety of national publications and her Japanese short-form poems appear regularly in international anthologies and journals. She has taught Culinary Arts, teaches English, and has served as the book review editor for the Tanka Society of America’s journal Ribbons. A self-proclaimed late bloomer, her discovery of and appreciation for haibun and tanka prose grew from her interest in blending prose and poetry into a narrative form that could uniquely express her love of nature and the world. Prayer for the Dead is her first book of poetry, the first release from her small literary press, Singing Moon, and received 2nd place in the Haiku Society of America's 2017 Merit Book Awards.
