It was a grand experiment – a pocket-sized comic with 100 pages of comic action for the same price that readers otherwise could only get 68 pages! On top of that, it contained great characters – THE BLACK CAT, SPIRIT OF '76, PHANTOM SPHINX, RED BLAZER....and many others, including SATAN himself! Alas, the series only lasted 4 issues; perhaps, as legend states, it was too easy for comic to disappear in pockets without being paid for, or possibly it was simply ahead of its time, because a couple decades later the digest-sized comic would be a staple of Harvey Comics as well as others.
