Some fifty years ago a bunch of photography purists idolized the 6x7 frame captured by medium format cameras, i.e. cameras using 120 or 220 roll film, believing that it created pictures of an ideal aspect ratio.
The rationale behind their conviction was not clear. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that the 6x7 frame would enlarge almost exactly to 8 by 10 inch paper – however this in itself does not suffice to baptize a certain format “ideal”. Nevertheless, for some innate reason, an inherent geometrical harmony was present. The 6x7 would produce a frame of exceptionally elegant analogies in both the horizontal and vertical orientation.
The photos in this book, pictures of quiet people and ordinary places, were shot in France, England and Greece between 2005 and 2006, with a Pentax 67 camera.
