An account by one of the thousands of young women who traveled to France during World War 1 to save lives. Faced with men, who could have been their brothers and sweethearts it was the nurse’s job and try and put back together men, blown to bits, and torn apart by machine guns.
Censored, as in keeping with the times, this diary remains a valuable source document for anyone trying to understand the madness of war, and its effects on the people who are drawn into it.
Young men were not the only casualties of battle. Young women were as much in the front line as their men.
