The Second Book of Enoch (usually abbreviated 2 Enoch, otherwise known as Slavonic Enoch or The Secrets of Enoch) is a pseudepigraphic text of the Old Testament. It is usually considered to be part of the Apocalyptic literature. It is distinct from the Book of Enoch, known as 1 Enoch. The book documents Enoch’s journey with the angels to Heaven, and his personal encounter with the Lord, who gives him secret knowledge. The last section outlines the priestly succession of Enoch, including the miraculous birth of Melchizedek and his new priesthood. 2 Enoch is also reminiscent of the later Merkabah literature.
