Rhino Review - 11th (East African) Division in Burma

The 11th (East African) Division had already seen action in their own backyard against the Italians but this book concentrates on their final campaign against the Japanese. As part of the pursuit after Imphal and Kohima, the Rhino's task was to clear the Kabaw Valley and establish a bridgehead over the mighty Chindwin river. This also involved fighting through the monsoon and building a road as they went. 'Mopping-up' operations against the Japanese inevitably resulted in some fierce engagements but the East Africans had the measure of their foe. After crossing the Chindwin - and setting a record - with a 1,100-foot pontoon Bailey Bridge, the Division was withdrawn to rest before its next campaign. This, thanks to the Japanese surrender, never came. The original Rhino Review was published as a 10" x 14" magazine. This reprint has been scaled to 85% to fit an A4 format.
