Water is not a commercial product like any other but rather a heritage that must be protected defended and treated as such. Water has become the fuel of certain conflicts in many regions around the world. The threats posed by competition for water are real enough - but for every threat there is an opportunity. In the Indian subcontinent, water is highly valued, people consider rivers as divine. More than 500 million people live in the Ganges – Brahmaputra- Meghna (GMB) basin. The problem over the Ganges is typical of conflicting interests of up and down stream riparian. As a riparian state Bangladesh desires to protect its legitimate right of natural flow of water by using International law.
