Edward Eagle of Kanawha County
From Powell's Big Fort to the Meadows on Gauley River
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
With no grave marker to identify his final resting place, Edward Eagle (abt. 1767–1804) was one of those yeoman farmers who made up a majority of Virginia’s frontier population, yet have been almost entirely forgotten by the living. First mentioned in Kanawha County records for 1795, Edward settled along a section of Gauley River in what is today Nicholas County, West Virginia. This brief history presents genealogical proof that he was the son of Timothy Eagle of Shenandoah County, Virginia. The author considers not only Edward Eagle’s family, but also his friends and associates. Surnames appearing in this work include Fitzwater, Foster, Odell/Odle, and many others.
