Young Caravaggio - One hundred rediscovered works - Volume I

ByMaurizio Bernardelli CuruzAdriana Conconi Fedrigolli

More than four hundred years of impenetrable obscurity hid one of the greatest cultural treasures in the world: the works done by Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, during his early period, prior to his arrival in Rome. In 2012, and after a long period of research, two Italian scholars, Maurizio Bernardelli Curuz and Adriana Conconi Fedrigolli, found and opened the conceptual hidden door leading to the recovery of one hundred drawings by the young Caravaggio - eighty of which he would return to in his mature works - around ten oil portraits and a letter of complaint written by Merisi himself. This discovery has made it possible to understand the secret mainspring of one of the greatest painters of all time, overturning among other things the widespread theory that Caravaggio never drew. The discovery is presented in two eBooks featuring more than one thousand photographs, in large part published here for the first time.
