Ranthambore National Park - Rajasthan

ByAjay Jain

Looking the tiger in the eye Ranthambhore is one of the few forest reserves in India where tigers still prowl – with a high probability of sightings. Especially in the summer months, when animals tend to laze around scarce water pools. I was lucky to spot a tiger chasing a herd of deer unsuccessfully, while another made short work of a turtle. The former even ventured out of the reserve boundary the following day to settle for a rotting carcass; even wild cats have to settle for such indignity when starving. The jungle has lots more to offer though – an astonishing variety of flora and fauna. You can even hike up to the Ranthambhore Fort. Or browse around shops selling local handicrafts and paintings. * Download the e-book on Ranthambhore to know more. * ** For the complete collection of books and e-books by Kunzum, visit http://kunzum.com/books.
