This is no journal in the classic sense. This came later when, a couple of months after Hurricane Katrina, I began to record my memories. I wrote because I was afraid I would forget. There had been so much drama, so much emotion, and so much life that I began to think some of those precious moments might slip away if I didn’t record them. I wanted to process it all and maybe end up a better person than I was before the hurricane struck. I already knew that I was different. I just wanted that different to be better. Who knows, maybe it could help someone else, too?
