Historical Directory of Hay on Wye - Second Edition

This is the second edition of the "Historical Directory of Hay" which was first published in September 2014 and details ongoing research to record the history of Hay, its buildings and people. This volume contains all the information from the first edition plus a large amount of additional research which has been undertaken at the National Library of Wales, Powys Record Office, Hereford Record Office and other sources since publication of the first edition. While this project is mainly to research and record the buildings of Hay and their history and to be used as a resource for future study, it will also be of great interest to those who know and love the town. The survey in this volume is organised alphabetically, street by street, and each building that was listed on the census from 1841 to 1911 is included. The census data is enhanced by including entries detailing the listed buildings in Hay and other documentary sources.
