Imagining A Way Forward: Underwood, North Dakota
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Rural populations are an important aspect of the national character and contribute to the economy. However, rural flight is a continual problem nationally that towns like Underwood have experienced for decades. The issues facing small communities need to be addressed at many levels, by a variety of interest groups, if they are to be solved. The projects goal was to evaluate, assess, and alter the trajectory of rural flight from Underwood, North Dakota, via design. The project scope was to re-envision the town and its context, including both built environment and policy oriented solutions. The project integrates spatial design, economic development and tourism initiatives.
