The world has just started recovering from the atomic war. The oceans have evaporated and become too harsh to support life; the Great Plains of the Americas have been scorched into red dust and cannot be farmed. Some cities have sprouted up out of the ruins to accommodate the drifting, immigrating generations. Everyone is running from something. The global government has enforced mild population control- it is now only legal to conceive through external fertilization and all pregnancies have to be registered...
But this has already caused issues. Including Sarah's case- a girl who grew up an orphan because of how society set itself up to fail her. When she, too, starts running towards New-New York City, she finds herself closer to her problems than she ever has been before.
