‘Portrait of love’ A well off family takes in a young drunken artist (John), causing the father to recall past episodes when he left his wife over a suspected affair with a portrait artist friend. After an uncharacteristic and interesting few months in Ireland, sorting himself out, he returns. His wife then dies giving birth to a lame daughter, who is by now, in her late teens and becoming romantically attached to John. A problem arises when John reveals his past life, which impinges on their present relationship, forcing her to find the truth of her mother’s affair once and for all.
