Classic Rich Field Astronomy
A remarkable celestial journey
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Since February 2017, I have been writing logbook pages from my deep sky astronomy observations. My projects have had a focus on rich field objects viewable from my suburban backyard, using small 2-4-inch classic refractors, at times augmented by modern technologies such as live video and night vision to counteract the urban light pollution.
My nightly journeys into the universe have taken me from aging open clusters, now dispersing as stellar streams in our solar system neighborhood, out to young star-forming associations of hot massive type O- and B-stars, ionizing and lighting up the Milky Way interstellar gas- and dust-clouds in a long garland of emission nebulae, draped around the waist of supernova bubbles in the Milky Way galactic plane.
From the Milky Way spiral arms, my journeys have taken me out to our local group of other galaxies, then still further out in steps to the surrounding galaxy super-clusters and filament, and finally to some of the largest and most distant galaxy walls and voids in our visible universe.
