Following the precedent of "Life A User's Manual" by Georges Perec, the novel describes the space of the Beacon Building from the perspective of it's inhabitants. Partially autobiographical, the novel recounts and foretells the birth, life and death of Allison Weinstein, wholly occuring within the walls of the Beacon Building, located in the fictional city of New Times. The narrative also serves hypothetical New Times citizens as a navigator and guide to the building.
Begun as an architecture studio project at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, the novel took shape as the author recognized the project's inherent narrative.
