COMPLEXATION EQUILIBRIUM STUDY ON BINARY La (III), Ce(III) AND Nd (III) AMINOPYRIDINE SYSTEMS
Coordination compounds differ greatly in nature and stability, so chemists could not completely agree on a simple definition of the term “Coordination Compound”. Early workers in this field had a few of the modern physico-chemical tools at their disposal, and if a material satisfied the law of definite proportions, it was considered as a compound. There is no doubt that the explosion like development in this field was initiated by Jannik Bjerrum’s dissertation[1] published in 1941. Bjerrum elaborated a general method for the determination and calculation of stability constants of metal amine complexes. Arrhenius’s theory of electrolytic dissociation was connected with the law of mass action by Ostwald[2].
