The Theory and Practice of Mineral Valuation in Nigeria is a bold effort to create awareness in Estate Surveyors and Valuers that there is a vacuum which needs to be filled but which we are glossing over. The NUC which in 1995 issued a circular to all Departments of Estate Management in Nigerian Universities must have discovered that there is a need to have Estate Valuers who are not just general practitioners in valuation but that in the field of Mineral Valuation, there will be estate surveyors who are sufficiently trained to take up the challenges. This book is the result of efforts in both teaching and research which spanned over two decades. As this book is the pioneer in this field, estate surveyors are advised to see it as a foundation upon which to build further research efforts that will sustain and improve the teaching and learning of Mineral Valuation in order to produce enough experts to meet the challenges of handling the Valuation of Interests in Minerals. There is bound to be an explosion soon in transactions involving mineral rights with the dwindling fortunes from the oil sector and the calls to the federal government to broaden the nation's economic base. The solid mineral industry is as a result receiving serious consideration.
