The stories inside Mongolian Dub Journey move from the Shambhala
Energy Center to underground music scenes centered around Dundgol Records in Ulaanbataar. Along the way, there are inspirational conversations with the city's dub youth, a visionary meeting with an udgan (удган), and exchanges with a painter reclaiming ancient Mongolian writing systems.
There's also a three-way dialogue on the subject of anarchism, its pre-colonial and non-Western histories, especially in Africa, and the dub ways ethics and our spiritual traditions can ground our dub politics.
At the center is M.A.A.T.: the Mongolian African Ancestral Travels project.
Imagine an African djembe drum alongside a Morin Khuur horsehead fiddle.
Then imagine them sharing coded messages about modern-day genocide, but also the guidance of dreams, ancestors, and our lands as we face dub realities.
And then open your eyes to the photos illustrating this Mongolian Dub
Journey: Turkish ruins in the Mongolian countryside, outernational photo-collages at Uganda's Dub Museum, Ge'ez graffiti in Colombia, street murals in Budapest and more.
