APLICACIÓN DE MODELOS Y TEORÍAS EN LA VALORACIÓN DE ENFERMERÍA

Florence Nightingale's contribution to the field of statistics was recognized with her nomination, in 1858, as a member of the Royal Statistical Society, being the first woman to access that position. In 1874, she became an honorary member of the American Statistical Association. Florence Nightingale, considered the first great Nursing theoretician, proposed the conceptual model of patient-environment interaction and the principles and rules on which she based her professional practice. She points out that health is a state where it is not only to be well, but also implies being able to use all the energy and resources that an individual possesses. She argues that in order to maintain adequate health care it is necessary to have a healthy environment with essential elements that positively or negatively influence a person's health, such as: pure air, pure water, efficient sewage, cleanliness, and light. The historical reference of Florence's theory in the nursing profession, she guides processes and procedures in health and education institutions, highlighting the power and importance of the restorative forces present in the environment where the patient is inserted. The theory is of a logical nature, part of the observation, formulation of problems, action and evaluation that can be generic today, given that nowadays we increasingly relate the impact of the environment on the health of individuals.
