A Tribute to Bernard Shell Sr.

On 11 June 2006 the Hampton Roads community paid tribute to Mr. Bernard Shell, Sr., founder and director of the Voices of Norfolk Concert Choir, which was organized in October 1967, Mr. Shell realized that there was no community choir in the area. Recognizing the need for such a group, he was successful in organizing and directing the Voices of Norfolk Concert Choir. After thirty years, he retired from the Voices, but not from music. Within a relatively short period, he emerged again as founder and director of the Melodies of praise.
