This is a scientific treatise in the field of tectonic geology that will be very controversial. The author argues, for the first time in geological literature, that subduction and overthrusting can be differentiated, and that this is important. Using principles defined in this book and an abundance of empirical, geologic evidence, it is concluded that subduction is only of secondary and local importance in global tectonics. In the general absence of subduction "Plate Tectonics Theory", a widely accepted doctrine in earth science, is brought into serious question. In place of Plate Tectonics, global expansion is a more likely solution to the present tectonic configuration of the earth's surface.
