In June 2010 Haitian Prime Minister Bellerive endorsed the Building Back Better Communities (BBBC) competition as the official government process for the evaluation of housing units and associated building technologies and solutions. This led to built examples ready for deployment to ease the suffering of an estimated 1.1 million displaced Haitians, many living in tents, following the earthquake of January 2010.
