Crunch Time: A Call To Action

The speed and scale of the credit crunch have left politicans running to keep up with events. Amidst public bewilderment and anger, the churches, mosques and unions in Citizens UK have come up with a radical response. Its five-point Call to Action is now commanding attention and respect from politicians in all the major parties. This collection is written by thinkers at the heart of the alliance - explaining its proposals, and in particular the reasons why Christians should support them. The book ends with an extended essay by John Milbank, arguing that Christian social teaching represents 'The Real Third Way' between the dominance of state and market. The editor, Angus Ritchie is Director of the Contextual Theology Centre in East London and Fellows' Chaplain at Magdalen College, Oxford. He has been involved in Citizens UK since 1998.
