In Jesus' Name, I Come to You

To share His love as He told me to

When the Grim Reaper, alias Coronavirus, suddenly appeared last year, we were at first in shock. Then, when reality settled in, so did fear. A precious friend called and asked me if I would write a devotion each morning to give her courage and hope. Part of her job was to protect innocent people from this lurking danger. I told her, “I’m not sure I can do this, but I will try.” God was listening. He heard me say, “I’ll try,” and He came immediately to my rescue. All it took was 1) Me saying, “I will try” 2) A pen and pad of paper, and 3) God! Everytime I came in contact with a pen and paper together, He gave me a devotion. I could be planning a trip to the grocery store and would take out pen and paper to make my list – and He would give me a devotion. When I went to church and sat in the pew with a pen and a pad of paper in front of me for visitors to record their attendance, He would give me a devotion. I could be waiting to make a deposit at the bank and when I took out the deposit slip and pen, He would give me a devotion. You see, the moment I said, “I’ll try,” God did the rest. Deep within me, He started that “flow-well” going. After a year, it has never stopped. (That is how desperate God is for people to help!!) Manna, the miraculous supply of food that God provided for the Children of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness was not an elaborate, fancy, gourmet meal. It was a simple meal that the desperate Israelites received just when they needed it most. It sustained them. It kept them from dying. It made them strong and kept them going against all odds. However, there were certain guidelines concerning the manna. It had to be gathered each day and only enough for that day. The only time they could gather enough for two days was the day before the sabbath. Otherwise, if more than one day’s portion was gathered, that extra portion would spoil. Just like the manna that God dropped each day from Heaven for the Israelites struggling in the wilderness, He dropped a devotion each day into my heart, a word from Him. Simple and direct words of encouragement to sustain us during the pandemic. Now, after a year, facing one obstacle after another, my prayer is that God has not only sustained us, but has made us stronger and more courageous than ever before. But most of all, I pray that He has drawn each one of us into a very close, intimate relationship with Him. So close that we can feel
