An American portrait painter, without intending to, collects an impressive number of lovers, which impels him to write about what he calls "The Female Code." The artist also starts a painting class in which he advances his students' expertise with his studio secrets. Inadvertently, his students become the nucleus of a "forum" in which the reasons why women think and act the way they do are discussed.
