¡Viva Cristo Rey!
Christ the King is not only the inspiration of great heroes; He is also the inspiration of great martyrs. Father Miguel Pro, priest of the Society of Jesus, was executed for his love of and service to Christ the King during the vicious persecution in Mexico in 1927.
Leaving his country to become a priest, Fr. Pro longed to return to help his people; and despite serious illness and the constant danger of arrest and execution, he did incredible work in Mexico City in the year and change that he was given. Fr. Pro brought the Sacraments to the people; fed the hungry; clothed the naked; and instructed the ignorant, fully aware of—and even longing for!—his imminent execution at the hands of the anti-Catholic government of Plutarco Calles.
Miguel Pro loves Christ the King, and his martyrdom gives all His servants a great advocate in Heaven.
Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!
